Not content with thrashing the hell out of thirty venues (and one festival) in ten countries over the past seven weeks on their mammoth ‘Visceral’ European takeover, Brazil’s Claustrofobia have turned their sights to Russia and have announced a ‘Visceral Rising Russia’ tour! The five-date tour commences in the country’s capital Moscow on 2nd June and takes the band around five cities finishing in Samara on 7th June.
The band has had an intense past two months on the road, their energetic and passionate live show wrecking heads and amassing a plethora of new fans to join the band’s already bulging ranks! The Claustro camp also had to deal with drummer Caio D’Angelo falling ill and being replaced mid-tour by the band’s tour manager, drummer of Andralls and long time friend Xandão.
Singer and frontman Marcus D’Angelo comments on the recent European Tour, “For all the unforeseen, the tour was extremely positive, as expected! It’s always a learning experience and that makes us keep the conviction. From the dirtiest underground venues to mainstream stages, we deliver the same punch and attitude as always. We’re here to make metal reign, and we had the interests of Russia so we’ll face the demand!”
Marcus also reports that Caio is recovering well, with Xandão still replacing him for the Russian tour dates allowing the drummer extra recovery time before the rest of the year commences. The band has an as of yet untitled release ready to unveil before the year is out. The album, which was recorded with producer Russ Russell shows a different direction to the band all the while harnessing the passion and bulldozing driving force that has made them household names in the Brazilian thrash metal scene for the past twenty years. Claustrofobia are about true metal, keeping it close to their hearts, and their live shows exuding raw energy and passion will fire up Russia in the coming week. If you’re about the next few dates try and get to a show, you won’t regret it. Otherwise await more album news.
